Hi, still planning the Florida hol for next year but we keep swinging from villa to hotel and back again. Our children will be 8 and 6 by the time we go in Oct 2006 so I keep thinking staying onsite would be special for them.

My husband doesnt want to stay at the All Stars because he thinks they will be tacky, noisy and full of Brits. He prefers the Fort Wilderness resort but I think it will be out of our budget.

So, if you have stayed at any of the value resorts, are they tacky, loud etc or not.?

We stayed at the Movies resort in 2000 and didn't find it tacky at all!  The food court did get busy at peak times but our daughter loved it there - the theming is great Smile

I haven't been or stayed there but from what I've seen I wouldn't say they were tacky, just well themed!

No doubt they'd be a little loud but you could say that with anywhere busy Smile

And apparently they have one of the best on-site transport schedules too.

Your children will love it I'm sure Smile

From what I have heard they are more 'Disney Motel' than 'Disney Hotel' thats all. Yes, that will mean smaller rooms, more noise, and a few less comforts. That all comes at some considerable saving though and the benefit of onsite. I don't think Disney really does tacky. Commerical, yes!, but not tacky.

What about a split stay? We are considering a week villa, and a week half onsite Disney half onsite Universal.

With our first holiday we wanted to do just Disney. We stayed at Springhill Suites Marriott Village, LBV, for the 14 nights with free continental brekkie, and a car. Loved every minute and it was excellent value.

Er...were you referring to me, Mark?

We did the All Star Movies last August.  There were 4 of us in the room.  We found it very cramped.  We would not stay for longer than one night.  Beth loved the resort.  The themeing is fantastic.  However, I see no advantage over staying in a villa, other than early morning entry and extra magic hours. Peter loved the pool and the CMs.  (He got an extra few meatballs at the food court! Wink )

We only paid £50-ish for one night, which I thought was great.

ChoppyChangeCaz is currently looking at a split accom stay...
Either Port Orleans and Grand Floridian
or All-Star Movies and Grand Floridian
Any big differences between Port Orleans and All Star Movies?

Port Orleans is probably too posh for me!  Grand Floridian is WAYYYY to posh.  Went to breakfast there...it was wonderful.

Isn't Port Orleans a boat trip away from DTD? I have always fancied it for that reason.

GF is far too posh for me too. For a monorail resort, I'd love to stay at the Poly. Trace did, and her photos were fab.

Only feelings....I don't actually know anything!! LOL.
