On our first night in Orlando we normally like a little walk around the Pointe before returning to the hotel to collapse and this trip was like every other, this time however we did not get there. A new building has sprung up just south of Walgreens and it is indeed the Millers Ale house. I knew it was there, I have read a few good reviews so we had a walk in, just to have a look, the restaurant/ bar is split in to two parts, an inside and a covered outside area and the first 2 statistics given by the young lady on the desk where (from memory) that they have 84 video screens (ranging from huge to bloody enormous) and around 26 draught beers. Now I quite like beer, lets face it I have been over indulging in it now for around 35 years, no wine, no spirits just beer, it is how I have always managed my weight, without beer I would never have been able to manage 18 stone. My excitement was quite pathetic really as the young lady handed me the list of “beer specials”, actually it is not a list but a book. Every night there are different “specials” on different beers although some “specials” are on every night and other “specials” are on only certain nights and some “specials” are on specific nights each week, some other “specials” seem dependent on which sport is being covered on the screens at a given time and a few “special” “specials” depend on you purchasing a portion of their “world famous” Zingers (boneless buffalo chicken fingers in various strengths) *note- the extra extra hot is really quite hot. Tonight’s “special” “special” was $4 pitchers of miller products with each portion of the aforementioned zingers, bang went the quick look around plan and down we sat. Upon seating whilst waiting for the fare to arrive we had a read of the various menus and leaflets on the table, there where flyers advertising further obviously recently thought up beer specials, a list of very reasonably priced lunch specials (millers seems to open around 11.30 and is very busy for most of the day as we passed it at quite a few different times) and of course the main dinner menu which although we did not intend to eat a full meal that night I decided to have a browse through. The menu is large, varied and very reasonably priced, one menu item for me though stood out immediately 20oz porterhouse steak for $15.95 and just below this Add 1lb of snow crab legs for $6 I was in heaven. Anyway, to cut a long story short we spent quite a bit of time in Millers the only downfall being that due to my slowing down in later life although one pitcher is not enough, two is a little two much and due to me being the only beer drinker there I unfortunately had to indulge in two on every visit. The food in Millers is very good, American fair but by no means the best I have had over there, but because of the beer “specials” and the atmosphere (NFL nights are unbelievable even if you do not follow the game) it has deservedly made it into my top 5.
